Tizi n'Bou Oudi | Textured Abstract Painting
Large, textured abstract landscape painting on canvas, dominated by earth colours with turquoise accent.
This artwork challenges the viewer not only with it’s aesthetic impact, but also the title. Passionate travellers, such as the artist who created Tizi n’Bou Oudi, probably know that it is a high mountain in Morocco by a dangerous dirt road. Swiss artist Pius Sieber accepted the challenge of Atlas mountain roads and was inspired by colours and shapes of the landscape. He brought sand from the location and created a beautiful, textured abstraction, dominated by reds and browns, with a blend of turquoise. This artwork takes the viewer to a challenging trip full of interesting discoveries.
Creating a rich sandy texture of the painting was a long process. The artist has developed an interesting technique to form thick layers of sand, marble and stone dust that results in remarkable, three dimensional time resistant artworks.
The painting is executed on canvas that is stretched on a thick 4.5 cm chassis, reinforced with aluminium. The edges of the painting are nicely finished, so it does not require additional framing and is ready to hang.
